Questions About Clusters

2009-02-13 16:04:21 by Deborah Jacobs-Sera

Hi all,

Here are questions to consider.

  1. Why did Dr. Hatfull use words like arbitrary, convenience, and lie when describing the clusters?
  2. Do phages belong in clusters (of any sort)? Why do we put them there?
  3. How does the question get answered?
I did have 5 questions and reduced them to 3, so think about it and give it your best shot. I'll expect to see something from each of you by meeting next week. Thanks!

Do you have any questions about Dr. Hatfull's presentation? Add a separate post if you do. Thanks!

Another Plaque Morphology Question

myrna

For clarification, this picture contains two plates of Mycobacteriophage Myrna that were set up identically except for the fact that the plate on the left was incubated at 37 C and the plate on the right was incubated at 30 C.

Questions:

1. Describe your observations.

2. Pose a question for others to answer or to address something you would like to know. Identify what kind of question you are asking.

3. Pose a testable question about this. Describe an experimental objective (plan) to begin answering your question.

Phage Biology Question

Observe the picture below. You will note small, turbid plaques, of Cali, and large haloed plaques of unknown origin. Describe what you see as the two plaques collide. Hypothesize what could be happening there and develop an experimental plan to demonstrate your hypothesis/explanantion.
